Planning Checklist
When planning a residency it may be useful to:-
- consult staff about their ideas and what they want
- decide on a set of aims - what the school as a whole wants to achieve
- check how the residency fits into whole school planning
- decide what facilities you can offer
- find out about sources of funding and make applications
- select an artist (look at a range - you might like to start with those listed on this website under "Directory of Practitioners")
- tell the artist:
- what you want to do
- how you envisage doing it
- what facilities you can provide
- the timescale, how many days and roughly when the residency will take place
- the budget for materials
- set up initial meetings with the selected artist: exchange ideas
- invite the artist to submit a written proposal to the school
- agree a residency plan with the artist
- agree a materials list
- draw up a contract for services with the artist
- prepare for the residency: inform pupils, staff, parents and governors, mount an exhibition, stage the residency
- monitor progress
- evaluate on completion
- hold concluding event or exhibition
- finally: what changes do you wish to make to the delivery of the art and design curriculum as a result of the residency?
