MILTON KEYNES DRAMA FORUM

The Milton Keynes Secondary Drama Forum provides opportunities for continuous professional development for teachers of Drama (including the non-specialists) who want to extend their individual skills. It also creates the opportunity to take part in a city wide collaborative drama network.

Milton Keynes Arts Education Forum is delighted to support this work currently overseen by Cate Hollis, Head of Drama at Stantonbury Campus with support from Jodie Gibson, Education and Outreach Manager at Milton Keynes Theatre.

The Drama Forum has been able to offer a range of support and development activities for secondary Drama work across the city, and is committed to the following principles through it's work;

  • regular termly meetings for subject leaders to explore curriculum initiatives and future developments in Drama education
  • regular workshops and courses for all teachers of Drama across the city to support professional development and classroom practice
  • developing links and networks amongst drama educators and theatre practitioners across the city
  • encouraging mutual support and sharing of best practice amongst participants.

‘WHERE ARE WE NOW?’ TRAINING DAY’ A day of professional development for Drama teachers of the new GCSE and A2 specifications

On Thursday 8th July 2010 (yes, we know it sounds a long way off , but you know it’ll come round soon enough!) MK Drama Forum will be providing a full day of professional development to support departments’ development of teaching the new GCSE and A2 specifications. The day will be practical wherever possible, and will be delivered by Heads of Drama from across the city. The morning will be dedicated to reviewing delivery of the GCSE exam units and an exploration of the Paper II stimulus (which should be published by Edexcel by this date). The afternoon session will focus on reviewing and planning the refinement of the A2 year. This course is suitable for anyone delivering, or planning to deliver Edexcel Drama and Theatre Arts at GCSE and / or A level.
To reserve a place, please contact Lynne Goodwin at MK Arts Forum on 01908 324421 or by emailing;
lynne.goodwin@stantonbury.org.uk
The day will start at 9am and finish at approximately 3.30.

A2 DRAMA and THEATRE ARTS (Edexcel) - Preparing For Unit Four

Alan Perks is a senior examiner for Edexcel and is responsible for chairing the setting of the questions on the written paper at Advanced level.He is very experienced in leading professional development and took a lead role in the planning and development of the new A2 course. This three hour session will focus on the similarities and differences between the Unit Four and the old legacy Unit Six. It will offer materials and ideas for approaches to delivery as well as a clear indication of assessment standards. A small charge will be made for each participant in order to cover costs. For more information on this, and any of the other training sessions, please contact Cate Hollis, Co-ordinator of Milton Keynes Drama Forum and Head of Drama at Stantonbury Campus on 01908 324557 or email;
