New Programme starting in September launched today - be one of the first to reply to guarantee a place for your school
CPD IN PRIMARY ART AND DESIGN
As you know for the last three years Milton Keynes Arts Education Forum has been able to offer a programme of inset opportunities for Primary Art and Design in conjunction with Northamptonshire Inspection and Advisory Service. As you will also know these sessions have all been free of charge.
Over the course of the last three years approximately 60 schools in the area have attended one or more of these sessions and we have received an enormous amount of positive feedback regarding the content and usefulness of the sessions, as well as the desire and need for them to continue.
We are therefore pleased to announce the 2010/11 programme which is attached, and which hopefully meets some of your suggestions in terms of subject matter. All sessions will continue to be held at Brooksward School from 4pm to 6pm and will be led by Nicola Scott.
This year we have made the reluctant but necessary decision to introduce a nominal fee for attendance at the sessions in order to cover the costs of the course facilitator. Unfortunately we would be unable to continue to offer this service without taking such steps as we have experienced a huge cut in our funding.
We are proposing to offer six inset sessions over the next academic year at a cost of £50 per school for one member of staff to attend all six sessions. We believe this remains good value for money at £10 per session plus one for free!
In order to keep administration costs to a minimum we are asking schools to sign up for the year whilst allowing for the flexibility of a different member of staff to attend at each session if necessary.
If you are interested in reserving a place for your school please complete the attached slip and return it to myself by no later than Wednesday 21st July, with a cheque for £50 made payable to “Milton Keynes Arts Education Forum”. Obviously there is a restriction on the number of places available and we will therefore be accepting schools on a first come first served basis.
Please send reply slips and cheques to Lynne Goodwin, MKAEF, Stantonbury Campus, MK14 6BN.
Art and Design INSET Training Programme 2010/11
The Art and Design curriculum is a strand of the National Curriculum that can, and does, contribute to a broad and balanced curriculum providing excellence and enjoyment for all children. It is important that teachers continue to develop their skills in this area to ensure pupils are given the best learning opportunities.
The programme for 2010-11 is promising to be an exciting one. More emphasis will be placed on making meaningful cross–curricular links and developing critical and creative thinking. Whether you are an Art specialist, new co-ordinator or wish to develop your own skills and confidence there will be something for everyone.
Each session will address a different area of the curriculum and will all have a practical hands-on approach, are fully resourced and bursting with ideas that teachers can use in the classroom the very next day!
Scheduled sessions are as follows:
